In looking over all the locations, I am saddened that there seems to be so few from below the mason-dixon line. But I must say, that the postings from the great north and west have been most impressive. Places I have not been and may never see in person....JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!! My sister-in-law, having lived in TN all her life, is in love with Montana. She lost her job (physician assistant) a few months back and has been offered an opportunity of a lifetime. Work on a ranch in Montana for app. four months. SHE'S GOING TO DO IT!!!!

I'm a new member here, but I'm from a small town in south Georgia (where I'll be building our cabin). I live in North Carolina, though.

dabones, interesting you would buy state side. Good for you. I live near London and was looking forward to getting out of SW Ontario to the north. After reading so many posts, (I just joined today) I wonder how that will ever happen. By-law nightmare.

I was born and raised in a small town of Horseheads New York. My wife is from England and we now live in Idaho. Our cabin is in Oregon. About a 3.5 hour drive.

Quoting: neb Do you have a cabin now or are you looking for land to biuld a Cabin/ I don't own land. After reading so many posts I don't know if the cabin thing will happen, not any time soon at least. Right now I'd settle for a tipi somewhere in the bush. I just want enough land to be self-sufficient and live a quiet life, set up in case the SHTF. Oh, but so does everybody else ;) I like the house on wheels idea. But that even sounds difficult to work around with all of the by-laws.
Got any suggestions?
