neb Thanks. This is my personal favorite. The only time I ever carried it was to Church after I bought it to show it off a little. Now it sits on my dresser so I can see it every day. Everybody loves it. The bidding at my auction will be a blood bath over this knife. It's worth around $600.

neb Cool spike knife!
Quoting: Salty Craig want to personally thank pizzadude You're welcome buddy. I like knives, don't have much tho. I'd like to expand my mini collection,, would really like a quality survival knife, sort of what Rambo carried, just to have, but there's so much junk out there.
Actually, I'd like to own one of everything😁

Quoting: neb Everyone knows what kind of knife this is right?
Hi neb The knife looks like one piece or is just the handle made from the spike?

No it is made from the entire RR spike. People make them with a forge and hammer them out. They heat the spike end (handle) and twist the hot metal to get that twist look and hammer out the cutting edge. It doesn't take to long to make one if you have the right equipment and tools.
The steel in most RR spikes are of good quality and they hold an edge good.

Here's my Kabar. It's the knife that The U.S. military uses. The handle is stacked leather and it will shave ya smooth as a baby. The blade isn't stainless but it's painted or Teflon coated to keep it from rusting. I carry it in the mountains as a survival knife and dont use it as a tool. I want it in prime condition so if my life depends on it, it's ready. I read that it sharpens well on a rock. It's full tang and built like a tank. Costs around $60 on Amazon.

One thing I do is sell knives for a living. I am into custom or hand made made knives. There are a few production made knives that are good. Buck, gerber, browing has some good knives and they make the ones we sell with our company name on them. I use a randle mod 14 most. I carried it while I was in the army over 40 years ago. Love D2 steel. I have Loveless, Dune and several more custom or hand made knives that you probable never heard of the makes. When my son started deer hunting I gave him a custome made knive by Brooker. He made extremely high quality knives but most people have never heard of him. He has not made a knife, that I know of, in over 20 years. Only interesting knives are good high quality knives. Steve

I'm down to one now. Gave the last 'extra' one to a kid down the path as a Christmas present. Not sure why I had so many, except for lookin' at....and love
This'n pretty much does it all for me;
The Gerber 650
The handle is made of glass-filled nylon and it's covered with a rubberized alligator skin texture for a tacky, comfortable (hard to slip) grip. The lock-back clip point blade has a fine edge forged from 420HC stainless steel.
That gator skin handle is nice for when yer elbow deep in blood......at least that's what cabi sez.
Last action it had was several weeks ago. Cabi skinned a rabbit. Gotta get one more for those gloves.
If not,
cod piece it is.
The rabbit was good, tasted like turkey....at least that's what cabis sez.....
great thread, nice knives

This is my Case Trapper. It's the Mobey Dick special edition. Case knives are well built and beautiful. I don't know any important details about this knife.

Quoting: Salty Craig This is my David Yellowhorse Buck
Salty I was at an outdoor show last year and there was a knife display, one knife was made by Yellowhorse, I think it was called Eagle Feather...it was a beautiful small knife. I think it was in the 400 dollar range, not sure. My brother collects Marbles, Case and Puma knives.
I think that cable knife pic was from Ebay.
