A recent consumer reports had high marks for WebRoot Secure and others. But not much detail.
I was using Mcnother software for years and was really pissed off how it grabbed space and CPU time every time it ran. Plus it warned on innocent sites such as LA times, Washington Post, etc. When it ran, I could not use my PC until it finished.
So I did some research and found out Webroot uses the cloud for their signature files instead of loading them to your PC. They are located in Colorado.
I deleted Mcnother, and did a free two week test drive of Webroot. Very fast, only warns on a few obscure web sites.
Bought it for about $50. (year)
Do your own due diligence, but worth the free two week trial to see how you like it.
