I have used National Geographic TOPO! mapping software since Windows XP. I like it very much. It has been discontinued. It works fine on Windows 8.1 but it works best w/o a touch screen. The main issue is the map can not be moved side to side or up and down by touching the screen. Only a mouse (or thelaptop touch pad) can move the map around on the screen. That may be one reason why it was dropped, I don't know for sure.

Does anyone here run Delorme Topo North America on a Windows touch screen PC? The current version is 10, but I'd like to hear if anyone is running any version on a touch screen Windows 8.1. Or any other map software that is GPS compatible and has topo maps (not just streets and highways) and on a touch screen Win8.1

Thanks

I use Google maps or Google Earth (formerly Keystone). There is also a neat site called SunCalc that gives you a compass rose with solar noon and times of day and year on a map that you can change to a satellite image and drag to your exact location. Very neat!
