Thanks for all of the wonderful messages, everyone!!! The internet here at the hospital has been *almost* as bad as the food at times.
I'm recovering from surgery quite well and was moved into the long-term care unit today to continue antibiotic therapy. At least they're letting me use the bathroom now -- in the beginning, they'd only let me move as far as the bedside commode and sink. Now I can toddle myself and my IV bags into the real bathroom and even take a shower with help. Moving up in the world, I guess!
Haha, but I was thinking that very thing, Just. If I can live in a 7 X 8 space with a bucket beside my bed for a bathroom for a time without going nutty, then that cabin is going to feel rather luxurious! Not being able to go outside or even to open a window is really making me sad.
I hope I can improve to the point of going home sooner than expected and continuing the antibiotic infusions with the help of home health. Another 5 weeks closed up in here would drive me crazy, I think.
I'm finding so many interesting ideas for the cabin and enjoying everyone's posts!

That's good news Julie. I had a house fire years ago that caused me to hole up in motel room for a month and a half. Lots of time to reflect, recharge the batteries, and fine tune all the ideas I had for the rebuild. I hope that your recovery is swift and if you were nearby my wife would make sure you had some juicing and green smoothies in you to help with you getting better. Good food is so important! Our bodies were made to be repaired with the proper food intake. Sorry about the rant. It's just we know of so many friends who have recovered from some crazy stuff by "medicating" themselves with proper whole foods. Soon this will all be in the rear view mirror. I hope the sooner. Please don't apologize, Bret! I absolutely agree! One of the things that has helped me quite a lot with my Lupus is my diet! What I DO have control over with this wretched disease, I try to maximize and I did some research into nutrition and foods, especially inflammation-reducing herbs such as turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, etc. which I use in my cooking. It's tough not having access to them and the ability to prepare my own food. I've noticed quite a difference in my joint inflammation.

SandyR, I would LOVE to receive the magazines and such!!! Is there a way of posting my address here so it doesn't wind up all over the world wide web, lol, and just remains within our fireside circle of cabin friends?

Thanks, Toyota!!! My son is going to accompany me on a trip up to the land this fall so we can get a few things done, hopefully, so I'll have some new pics. Even if it's just of some markers and favorite trees or rocks, hahahaha.
OK, enough of the quoting. Hugs to all and I appreciate all of the kind words and wishes! I read EVERY ONE again and again when the day turned awful! So I appreciated ALL, even before I got the quoting thing down!!!
Oh, and I got to go outside for a few minutes today and felt the sunshine. Yippee!

turkeyhunter Be careful!!! Don't get dehydrated!!!
I've been keeping an eye on the wildfire situation in Oregon and, so far, it hasn't been too terribly bad. Nothing in the area around my land. I've been concerned about brush, dead wood, and such needing cleared out.
We were planning to go up in September. That may have to be pushed to early October now but that's OK.

Lol, I still have trouble quoting!
That's the problem though about posting an address here. It's not a closed forum group.
Can you post the hospital address with your room number? Would you be comfortable doing that? After 5 weeks, you're outta there......and it's almost a public place.... We can send it to your user name, just give the hospital a heads up. I would never post my home or cabin address.
I bet that sunshine felt wonderful!!!!

SandyR
It's a really big hospital and I think mail would need my first and last name to get to me, especially if my room changes, which has already happened once in the week I've been here!
I made my email address available on my profile. So if anyone needs my mailing address, they can email me! That's the best way, I think.
