I just wanted to wish everyone here a Happy New Year !

As 2014 comes to a close and 2015 stretches out before me, I'm pondering my next year of work on the property... (I resolved to have no resolutions ).

Some things on my short list for 2015:
Finish cabin build (something that will never finish I'm sure),
Install new off-grid Solar System,
Build small earth-sheltered Greenhouse & Garden terracing,
Planting of fruit trees,
Build a 8x12 Root Cellar,
Roof over Sea Container including lean-to's off sides.
Clear field stones from the open lands and sort / pile them by type & size - ever ongoing...
General log work, felling, cutting, prepping....

Good thing this is my FT Job now - doing up the property and making it "just so".

My plans for 2015 at the cabin is my full no batteries solar power well set up. I have purchased the complete solar array and pump, picking up all other items before install date in April. Includes a 6 foot high chain link fenced in enclosure. Keeps free ranging cattle from damaging it. Finish my outdoor shower stall and plumbing from the water tower.

What are you cabin plans/projects for 2015?

Finish the interior wood ( tongue and groove knotty pine) in the den/kitchen area at the southern camp.

Build a small dock in the new small pond for fishing.

Build a couple wood duck nest boxes for the pond.

Our cabin in back on our property and we can still see parts of our neighbors houses and barns, so a big agenda item for the coming year is to plant as many trees as possible.

I have been experimenting with a kerosene heater and our woodstove to get the cabin toasty faster. I may install a vented propane unit for next winter so we can use the cabin more.

I dream of adding another small room to our existing 12 X 16. I have it all planned out in my head. If God is willing and the creek don't rise, I will begin this project next summer.

There's always more trim work waiting!

Wow. I too plan to finish many projects including a screen porch, solar upgrades and camp wiring, painting, water pipe to loft to holding tank, splitting wood, getting that big birch that blew down last year, rebuilding chimney and re-roofing old cottage, ....... Days are starting to get longer!

Almost our list to a tee.

2015 will be our first year full time at the cabin.
No more working for money in order to afford things needed in order to work for money...............

Lotsa building, improving.
Everything will be dedicated to improvements of living basics.
Immediate rewards.

Cheers to all in your endeavors

Happy new year!!

Our plans this year are to finish the insulation and wood interior walls in the cabin, build a deck, build an outhouse, put in a pond, and fix the fence and replant the trees (61) that the stupid highway dept cut down two weeks ago.

Nothing to do I guess. I called our surveyor and the trees were definitely on our property. The super even told my husband when we called he doesn't care if it was off the right of way or not, and he doesn't care if the trees are gone, and the fence is ruined. Our lawyer is on it. I just want the trees back. They ran along side the road and gave us our privacy. Jerks

WOW... Everyone is gonna have a busy / productive 2015.

@Sandy... That really SUX ! I wish you success in going after the highway dept, IMO they should compensate you for it. Hopefully a reasonable judgement will follow.

Happy New Year, everyone!!!!!! Days late, sorry!!! Several days of ice here in Texas have made my internet annoyingly slow, for some reason.

My plans -- Move to Oregon and get this cabin going!!!! So, I have EVERYTHING to do and must prioritize! It will be interesting to see what the land looks like after the winter and what needs done on that front.

And I get to deal with the planners, coordinators, inspectors, paper-pushers, what fun.

Oh, and one minor detail. Sell my Texas house so I can build my new home!
