We do here at home...and we will at our cabin. We also plan to erect a flag pole at our boat dock. We'll likely display the Gadsden Flag as well.

Since we live in an old town, we display the Canadian Red Ensign. It is the old Canadian flag. We also lower it when a local dies and on Remembrance Day. Occasionally we change the flag. We put the modern Canadian flag up on Canada Day, the British flag up on Victoria Day, a Santa flag for Christmas, and when Bob's brother visits we put up the Airforce Flag because he is a retired Colonel in the Airforce.
In the attached photo, the flag is at half staff because it was from Remembrance Day.

We have a flagpole on the beach where we run up the Canadian flag and the US flag underneath. The property is in Canada with international owners and visitors. Sometimes, we add the NB flag on the long weekend in August.

Right now our Gadsden flag is tacked on the side of our cabin but eventually I'm going to find a nice straight and tall skinny tree to use as a pole to fly our 37 star flag (cabin was built circa 1871) and Gadsden. I have all the tackle ready to go.

This is one of those areas that tends to separate Americans from Canadians. Although there are exceptions, I bet you will find Americans flying the stars and stripes more often than Canadians hoisting the Maple Leaf.
I am Canadian and my wife is American so we have traveled the back roads of both countries in Ontario and NY state.
It boils down to a cultural thing. We actually get a chuckle when we compare our families and their differences.

Interesting! We have close friends in Toronto, went there a few years back to visit, and vacation up in Wasaga Beach. 2 things we grew to love up there that we can't find here in NC....Poutine, and ketchup flavored potato chips!

Nice cabin, but your flag is upside down. The MAple LEAF should face the other way... If on a flag pole the stem is down. I never fly a flag .WE used to hang my dads vets funeral flag out front on the 4th but havent for years. The STARS and STRipes are hung with the stars in the right upper corner.

skootamattaschmidty, THAT......is the most beautiful cabin I have ever laid eyes on.
I hope you don't mind if I turn it upright for all to see. I had to grab the pic and enlarge it to see all the stuff decorating yer place.
What soul.
What warmth.
What rustic beauty.

Mainiac, Notice the caliber of folks here. Really great folks. Kind people. It would be wise to keep your caustic opines to yourself.
Maybe even create your own thread and post a pic of your cabin....

Thanks for the compliments Gary O and Cabi. Thanks for fixing the picture as well. Yes it is a very rustic place and a lot of the items on the front of the cabin were actually found on or around the property and have been hung up. The site of my place was the power plant for an old gold mine in the 1920's so there are lots of "artifacts" as the kids call them. As for flying flags, I have always said that Canadians don't do it enough!!

Haha thanks Hattie! Lots of antiques and trinkets every where but I can't take credit. My uncle left most of it behind for me when I bought the place off him. Here's a pick of the one side with lots of old items.

Not sure why pics keep going sideways
The black item in top of the old ladder was one of my additions. It is an old sausage stuffer made in the 1860's.
Sorry if I'm hijacking cabingal's thread here.
