what do u collect for your cabin?
u go by it and just have to have one more of whatever it is??
mine is old gas cans.
at first i heard hubby complain about the new gas cans.
so i thought i would get him an old one.Cant use them.
i try to contain myself and not get them.they appeal to me greatly.i do not know why.
i only have a couple out at the cabin...they just look so ole fashioned.
i plan on getting more eventually.just a couple for here and there around the place.

The new ones are a royal pain! I hate how you have to pull back on the nozzle while trying to stuff it into the hole and lift 5 pounds worth of gas at the same time all with just 2 hands! I spill every time-ICK, who wants to smell like gasoline??

My dad, whom I use to follow around and help all the time, had the coolest gas can. It was metal and held probably 2 gallons, round and had a nice handle up on top. The best part was it had a little clear hose-maybe 3 or 4 feet worth with a special nozzle on the tip that fit nicely into the hole of whatever it was he was filling-usually the lawn mower. It had a hand pump on it and I loved watching him pump the gas through the tubing...especially at the end...it always amazed me how he knew just when to quit pumping or pump a little to get the perfect amount into the tank!! He never overflowed it or even dripped a little-so cool.

I don't know what ever happened to that gas can but I can not begin to even tell you how many times over the years I have stated that we need one like that! Maybe you have one in your collection cabi? If so, and you ever care to part with it, let me know Okay?

Wood (Jerry wood).

I kept collecting interresting peices of wood that I would find on the property, sawmill or elsewhere. I was hoping to incorporate them in the cabin; headboard, tables, wall art, coat rack, frames, etc. There is some really cool pieces of cedar, walnut, white oak, etc. Just haven't had any time to do anything with them.

I like all sorts of old things related to the history of the Rockies. Frontier type stuff is nice in a cabin. I have old guns, animal skins, Indian blankets, spurs, deer and elk antlers, buffalo and antelope skulls, old cartridge boxes, artwork from Russell, Remington and others, and like old type appliances. I have a woodburning cookstove from the 20's I'll eventually get to use, and an interesting old propane stove, probably from the 20's also.

General view of the "living room",

A couple high grade Winchesters over my desk, with the first light of day coming in the window,

Wasn't much of a choice, I was able to buy each for about the price of a standard grade version of each gun. Not something I'd search out, but they sort of fell into my lap. Who am I to argue? I view them as functional artwork.

Thanks for the kind words, all.

Every time we go for a hike or backpacking trip or what have you, I pick up a cool rock for my wife. most of the time she won't see me grab one, so it is a surprise.
She is a bit of a rock nut, and she thinks it's sweet like bringing her flowers. She has a pretty big collection nowadays.
