Who is getting spring fever?????????????
We have had such a "dud" of a winter (which is my favorite season) that now I am starting to think "OK, forget that...let's just move on to spring already!"
How are the rest of you feeling? What about you cabin lovers up in Canada???? Sick of it yet???????

In central Pennsylvania it has been in the low 60's the last two day's, and sorry to say, but the celebrity hole digger did see his shadow this morning. If those six weeks are like the previous six weeks, at least it won't be that bad though.

We've certainly had our share of snow here this winter. Hubby can't shovel anymore so we have hired a neighbour to dig out our driveways and I do the walkways. I LOVE to shovel, but I have to admit that even just doing the walkways has been taking its toll on me this winter. The driving conditions have been terrible too and now that I am the only driver (for the next 6 months), I'd be happy to see some spring weather. Come on Spring......

Basically been another "dud" of a winter here in Wisconsin this year too, with the exception of the nice snowstorm we had in December. BUT, this year I'm in no hurry for spring to come!
I'm enjoying being able to hunker in and take care of our new daughter. It's nice to stay indoors and observe the weather from the window! This week alone we've had heavy wet snow that fell at a rapid pace, above average temps, a thunderstorm during the night that turned the roads to ice which cancelled school for the day, and now cold temps......really cold temps...the windchills make me really happy I get to stay inside!!!
Isn't it funny what difference a year can make? This winter feels like it is flying by! Last year I couldn't wait for spring

Yah I agree. I love the snow and cold. I enjoy cross country skiing and snow shoeing at the cabin. This winter has been an entire bust and we only got out a couple times. If it is going to stay the way it has been lets get on with it and move to spring so we can actually enjoy it outside! I feel bad for those that have sleds in South Western Ontario!

-42C here yesterday. Hard to get work done on the cabin in that weather. Supposed to be up to -26 on the weekend though. I'll snowmobile in that weather. At least the days are getting longer....summer will be here all to soon....I only hope I can get all the essential materials out before the thaw....

Its all a SCAM... How do they know if he saw his shadow or not. Did they talk or communicate with that rodent ? I've been in shorts and t-shirt all year long... Just not looking forward to June 1.

No Manatees dont do anything, except make you slow down. When the waters get warm, then something is gonna brew.

Yep i like when spring comes but I do like winters. It gets old but there is really a lot to do in the winter. I ice fish take walks in the hills and love to be outdoors so the winters actually aren't to bad for me. Spring does bring new life and that is always nice to see. I love the 4 seasons. I dislike summer the most because it's hot and all the things I like to do are over.

I need more snow and a late., wet spring. We had a drought year last year and it is shaping up for another one this year. I'm itching to get into the cabin but the desert will be tinder dry without more moisture. We had range fires all to close last year.

not a dud of a winter here, we got good snow this year (more than last 3 combined).
the groundhog is a retelling of a celtic (irish/scottish/welsh etc) legend of the Ceillech (old woman) on a mountain who controled the weather. if she went out to gather wood that day it would be sunny and she would gather enough to heat her hut a few more weeks, if it was cloudy (no shadows in cloudy weather) it meant she slept in and would cause spring to come early since she ran out of wood.
this version dates back centuries, the ground hog is an american retelling mixing Celtic imigrant traditions with local customs in America.
a bit of history trivia for those who might find it intersting

Yes, thanks for the lesson!
Here's how that would have worked out if I was the woman living on the mountain.............
Nice sunny day...go collect a ton of wood.....feel proud and well prepared.......no more winter
Cloudy...good day to stay in bed....sure felt great.......well rested......should have enough wood to see me thru.............winter last F-O-R-E-V-E-R and E-V-E-R!!!!!!!!!!!! Whaaat the.........
That's why I listen to what a rodent has to say!
