Just hoping all you folks in the path of Irene are safe and your homes and projects survive. Looks like this is one is going to be nasty.

I've been watching CNN on and off and I feel for all of you who are in Irene's path. Hopefully you have all found a safe place to go and the damages won't be as bad as predicted.

I am hoping that the outhouse my son and I erected a week ago is still there when we go back! It is within ~1/2 mile of Albemarle Sound and right in the path of Irene.

Just rain right now here in southern NJ, but intensifying. We were going to evacuate to the cabin, but decided to stay put for the storm and head to the cabin if we lose power for an extended time.

Vince P - I hope that you don't have to evacuate, but it is great that you have your cabin to flee to in an emergency since that is what many here had in mind for a use for their cabin. Keep us posted.

Conditions are deteriorating. Everything that couldn't be brought indoors is tied down. Filled the canoe with water so it can't move. Windows are taped up. Our house is in the middle of a densely wooded area of pine and oak, so the greatest danger is one of the big monster trees coming through the house... the kids think we're "camping" in the basement. The electricity hasn't gone out yet, but the latest estimates are that the potential damage will take it out for 1-2 weeks. Hoping for the best...

Just lots of rain some strong winds with a few branches down. I'm not complaining, but Irene seems to have been a "dud" in my area. :)

Wow, a crazy 36 hours. We live in Eastern MA and have the land in VT. Both got HAMMERED. Southern VT got about 10 inches of rain in about 24 hours.
In my home in eastern MA we had three big trees come down. Two were deep in the woods and one fell directly onto the neighbor's powerline. I had to chainsaw it off in 50 mph winds to prevent the fallen tree from pulling over the telephone pole. Needless to say, it was C-R-A-Z-Y!.
We lost power and just got it back after 36 hours. We spent today cleaning up. There's a lot of huge trees down, across streets. Wild.
