I had a TIA stroke almost 2 years ago. Vertigo made it dangerous to do my chores.
I went to PT as my head was pulled to the left. still tight and I'm working on it, but I can now climb my ladders again!

Last Thur echocardiogram was negative (that is to say according to it no cardiac issues causing the vertigo, that's great since I had 4xbypass in Dec '19). Btw, also had my heart just shut off (sudden cardiac arrest) almost exactly one year ago. This is why docs have been concentrating on cardiac causation.
Sent a msg to my primary doc just a bit ago that it is time to up the game.
The good news is that the heavy cranial 'pressure' Ive had for 3mo has backed off considerably, today is the 4th consecutive day. What a relief!
I am SO glad I had that 6mo window of time to get the new cabin build designed, ordered, built and delivered/installed (on May 1) and had until early October to enjoy it before this hit. Maybe by spring opening I'll be way better, winter is a good time to lay up here at home.

Hang in there. Glad the ecg was neg. I had loud ear ringing, and could hear my heartbeat in my ear for many weeks. The pulsing faded, but the ringing remains. Seems a long recovery is normal, so here's hoping you're about to turn the corner!

Saw a neurologist yesterday for an initial visit.
We talked, he ran some physical tests, talked some more and concluded Im in rough shape.
Vertigo is either 'peripheral' or 'central'.
Central is brain stuff, peripheral is other stuff like inner ear. Since most cases are peripheral they typically go for treating that and hope it goes away.
So, now I go to PT to see if the treatments for peripheral that Ive done informally with no results are true . Well, ok...I get it, the new doc has to start at the beginning.
All this even though he acknowledged that my relatively sudden profound symptoms were more stroke like.
I'll go to PT, it will either help or define mine as central.
Moving forward at a glacial rate.

Sorry fella... As a coincidence, my wife is having an episode right now. It really sucks and puts your whole life on hold.

All still the same, almost 5mo now.
Had my 1st PT session, intake interview and some tests, he is 99% sure it is not the 'common' inner ear crystals.
Set up 1x week sessions thru 4-3 with right now 'eye exercises' to do at home 3x day.
If I dont have significant improvement by 4-3 it will point to 'central' rather than 'peripheral'.
Maybe this (finally) will help.

Well, looks like it was a stroke. They cant fix it, only get me functionally better and maybe the vertigo will go away in time.
Pretty much what I had figured way back but they had to come to their own conclusions. It is a relief to have it 'defined', Im considering this a step forward.

Glad you got a consensus. What does ‘functionally better’ consist of? .

This has been extremely debilitating for me, in about 6 hours I went from being able do about anything I wanted to do to barely being able walk. At first my world was spinning badly all the time, lying down, sitting or standing then it eased off so that for the past 3 months I only get it when standing and moving (slow). The vertigo was so profound that it was the predominate problem. Over time more subtle issues have arisen; ie, right side disfunction of arm, leg and hand with memory and cognitive issues of 'executive function' like organization, planning, word management, simple math, etc. For good or bad Im still able to communicate on the laptop and phone but I stumble mentally.
I started self-rehab early on, a guy has to be able to at least get around his house, it was baby steps and now pretty much short steps and slow. The PT is to smooth all that up and challenge and improve my balance and confidence.
Hopefully I will get a half way decent stride back without a cane. I could go to cognitive and speech therapy but as much as Im not on my old game anymore I do ok. I can still drive though I tend not to at night or when tired (developing cataracts dont help).
So my whole life has changed literally 'overnight' yet I can still wobble around, do some stuff albeit slower and bore people to distraction.....
I am sooo much better off than a lot of folks who have had strokes or traumatic brain injury! And Im still working on being all I can be

Sounds like you have the fighting attitude and that goes a long way. My mom hurt her back a few years ago and just gave up. Now all she does is sit in her front window and watch the world go by.
Very frustrating to watch so don’t give up

Hopefully now that they know what they are fighting they can help you even more
Hang in there and keep the positive attitude as much as you can

Ive had chronic back trouble for decades too so can understand why she lost her fight , it's a hard thing. My wife keeps telling me Im improving, guess she is a better objective measure than the one in my head. Though the other day she said something about when she signed on 'for better or worse' she thought there would be more better.....

I feel the pain, suffering from much the same since my accident. On the bright side our cabins are livable with only modest upkeep. Just enough to keep the brain occupied on what the body should be doing.
