Paul. I know you like onions like I do.
Here's something you can try that's super easy. It's a red neck blooming onion. Take an onion, cut out some of the core like an apple, but not all

Hey Darz! Ok I did it, mostly. I thought you said something about potato so that’s where I started. Cheese on top of that, onion slices, no beef cubes so used pork bits, green onion.

I was a bit apprehensive, took some cooking time. Tried it on the test mule (wife) and she liked it! Passed me the plate and sure enough, plenty edible! I had made myself a pork sandwich just in case, me and the dog ate that.

Paul. I made a redneck bloomin' onion last nite.
This is an ONION only.
Core the onion and cross slice. This time I used an apple corer. To keep from slicing all the way through. You can put the onion on a pickle jar lid or something like it. But it won't hurt if you cut all the way through either.
Drop a beef cube in the hole. Top off with butter. Wrap it in foil, and put it on a hot grill about 15 or 20 minutes before your meat. Cook till it's as soft as you want.

The longer you cook it, the more concentrated sweet and salty it becomes. Put it on whatever you want. Then eat.

Ok, looking forward to it. I don’t have any butter here, for some reason, nor beef cubes, nor a coring tool. Onions I got. Back to grid Sunday.

Core the onion and cross slice. This

Well I got the butter yesterday but the apple core tools were sold out. Couldn’t find the beef cubes either, they’re normally on the shelf? I still have a couple days to mess around here in the city..

You don't have to use the core tool. I used it last time because we got a Cuisinart one at the thrift store for 50¢. Lol
I just use a pocket or kitchen knife. Also we keep Knorrs brand bullion powder around for soups/stews etc. They have it at Walmart. Chicken and beef flavored. Or Amazon.

If you have ramen noodles around. You can use the flavor pack in stead of bullion.

Found this in my shed today while looking for a can of black spray paint. It’s a portable dual burner LP grill. Does it work? Good for something? No idea.

Found the spray paint though.

Used to be a large swap meet (glorified flea market) in the closest county to our house, and the wife and I usually made it over on Sunday if nothing else going on. Stuff was cheap, and as a new property owner with big plans I always grabbed something rather than go home empty handed. Add to that moving sales, friends relocating, plus there was already things in the buried garage here.

Another recently unearthed gem.

M&Ms, great idea! My first selfish thought was ibuprofen, but others may stop by. Maybe half and half.

I ran across this on you tube. Looks like the extreme version of what you did Paul.
I think I'm gonna try it with Andoulle sausage.

Grilled Veggies.
Longhorn Steakhouse serves a grilled sweet potato with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Haven't made it at home yet. That and grilled asparagus would be so good.

Chef Nobodee here again. We were given a box of Betty Crocker cinnamon toast cake mix. Didn’t have the pan grease but cooked it up on the lp stove in a pot on tinfoil. Edges got a bit overdone but boy is it good!

Other day we made a 'creamy hunters sauce' c/w neighbor grown ground beef and egg noodles. So good we made it again today. I used our stovetop but this could be done with a pan on grill.
Dice onion of choice, sauté
Add in sliced mushrooms of size you like
Slice or dice carrots to size you like (we steamed em in m-wave), when done throw in with the cooked down onion & mushrooms
Meanwhile, cook up 3 cups of egg noddles and brown the 1-1.5# ground beef.
As that is going mix 3 cups water, one packet of 'French onion soup' and a can of cream of mushroom soup.
When the noodles are al dente, drain and mix all the stuff together, simmer for 20ish min. uncovered to thicken.

Good for you chef. What's next?
I believe you made pizza from scratch. Brett posted about scratch pizza in cast iron.
I tried that with a twist. I made it upside down. Put all the toppings in from the bottom up, then the crust. It turned out well. Just had to put a cookie sheet on the top, then flip it over when it was done.

Other day

Sounds great G. Wife has been asking about a noodle dish.

So last night we finished my cake surprise, Speaking of surprises, I left the burnt remains on the tinfoil on the floor. 3am I woke up, Buddy the dog is standing by the door. I let him out, turned to reload the wood stove and walked right into a big pile of barf! On the carpet no less. 10 more feet and he would have made it to the lenoliun bathroom floor. Poor guy, he’s ok now.

Not me, still on store pizza. I did just buy a 4 pack of Kirkland frozen pizzas, $10 and way better than the dollar plus ones.

I have been making pancakes most mornings. Simple, powdered batter, water and oil. Berries when I have them. Buddy gets those leftovers too.

Ive been making pancakes of late using 50/50 all purpose flour and cornmeal, some baking powder and b-powder, a smidge of sugar if you like and dash of salt.
For liquid I mix a good dollop of sour cream dip and my 2% milk, mixed well.
If the batter needs it I add a bit more milk.
With no egg or oil they are a bit crumbly but ok and imo really tasty, especially with maple syrup or honey.
And butter of course
Quick, easy and I think so much better than a store mix.

We returned to AZ and while cleaning, vacuuming out the junk in the bottom of my 10 year old - yard sale propane grill I discovered I could see the deck through the bottom of it! The burners were rusted through as well so it was time for a new grill.

We smoke meat ~once a month and grill several time a week. I wanted a pellet smoker and propane grill in one unit. After searching around, and finding there aren't many of these available, I found good reviews on the Pitboss combo unit. Lowes had them for a decent price (way more than the $148 darz paid) so I sprung for one. My wife said "Merry Christmas!"

All I've done so far is burn it in and grill hamburgers on the propane side last night. Local store had ribs for $1.99/lb so I bought a couple. Sunday I'll give the pellet grill a breaking in with those ribs!
