At the cabin we rarely listen to music preferring the natural concerts provided

Man, I couldn't agree more.
We have yet to listen to anything but the symphony of nature at this cabin.
Having said that, at our previous cabins we did listen to some sweet melodies, and may take it up anew.
Seems some of our mortal efforts do blend quite nicely with the unseen forces whispered thru the willows and pines, unified with the varied trills of our avian acquaintances.

I'm a simple man, so the word eclectic really doesn't play to my soul, but I do like what I like, and I do not deny any genre, when presented comely to a given sense.

Ethereal, maybe.
Haunting, some.
But it seems, like the deep southern jazz beats imitating the drum of rail cars pulsing a rhythm on the tracks, tranquil composed music oft impersonates nature.

Love it, borrego.

You know, I've been doing some traveling lately and listening to a lot of musical genres. All this talk of music styles and favorite artists and all has really got me to sit down and think: what is my all-time favorite song.
I've evolved from early rock to acid rock to mellow rock to transition music leading to new and old style country, jazz, blues, & americanna. I now even find myself listening to techno and Sinatra and and loving it.

But, you gotta have a "favorite" song of your life. A song that, no matter where you are or what you are doing, you will stop and listen to because it defines who you are, or where you were or wanted to be at a defining point of your life. It could be a song from when you were a child or a song you heard yesterday that just stays inside you and is never ever replaced for its melody, meaning, era, whatever.

I keep coming back to this as my all-time hands down no exceptions favorite song. Guess it says a little about me that perhaps even I don't fully understand yet today.

I hope you enjoy: URL

Really did bob, and I can sure hook up with that.
Seems we traveled alota the same path.....

However, there is no way I can sequester myself to one.
With the complete irritation I get from earworms of songs that stick in my mind, I'd be a babbling idiot in no time.......

About the only other thing in the music world that throws me, is when I flick from my favorite classic rock station (92.3) to my DVD player, and the time is 9:23.....takes me the whole minute to figure out which I'm listening to....one time AC/DC was playing on 92.3 at 9:23 while I had an AC/DC disc playing....whoa.......that was a total time/mind warp........

When the subject of favorites comes up, I tend to reach to early childhood. And now I can look from the other side.
This one plays both ends for me, and gives me a rush of childhood memories.....sorry to wax so nostalgic....but I've been with my 88 year old dad.......can't wait til he's 92.3.......

That being said (love that song BTW) do you ever listen to ?
They program and stream four different genres of country music from Florida. If you want to get a good mix of pre-programmed music but stay in your genre I recommend Country Bear. Vedry homey station and the announcer guy actually returns e-mails if you send him something.
They also play a good mix of Canadian country artists...very nice indeed.
Give them a listen. You can stream live or download the CountryBear app to your smartphone for driving' and groovin' at the same time.

Led Zeppelin - my favorite band.

Yup, Led is not ded...no way.
Why is it that the really good stuff is so far back?
....and so much of it.
Marty, Merle, Page, Stevie Ray, so many.
Can't leave out Santana, however, and his groups cover a whole lotta time

Look at John Cowan on youtube, esp. "in my father's field". he has the best voice i have ever heard. i instructed my husband to play this at my funeral if i die first.
John is now playing bass for the Doobie Brothers. I miss his band and the vocals....

I just read an interview by Keith Richards in Rolling Stone Magazine last month.
Its a miracle........ but hes still hangin in there.
I saw The Rolling Stones in 1982....... i was fifteen years old and already had most of their Albumns. It was and still is one of the highlights of my teen years. It was a general admission concert.......
My girlfriend and i fought our way to the front and got very close to Mick and the boys. It was awesome.
Wild Horses is probably one of my favorites.
