My outboard has become really dodgy.

Was looking at new ones, and a new Mercury 40hp CT, is running about 9500 Canadian, about 7400USD.

I have no idea if these are post covid crazy prices or normal. Tried looking for price tracking but couldn't really find anything.

Any thoughts? Wait till next year?

Thanks
JM

Like many things they are pricey and some are hard to get. Last month we bought a Yamaha 150 for US$15K.

Yeah, well I guess just have to jump into it.

Probably just go small and put put along.

No rush, and I don't have far to go.

Prices skyrocketed the last couple years
But they last forever with proper maintenance. Is yours beyond repair?

Holy smokes! You could hire a high school rowing team for a few years for less.

Seems that way, lost two summers now. Gets 'fixed' and then something goes wrong. It is 20 years old and was probably got the crap abused out of it for 4 years while it was parked at a party cottage while I was away.

Consider keeping the old motor going for a couple more years so you can see what comes out in electric outboards.

Mercury, Yamaha and others say they are going electric.
