I know this has absolutely nothing to do with building a small cabin, however, it is about as fascinating to me as anything else. This is all about the theory of how the pyramids were constructed using water to float the blocks. It's even cooler to understand the lift shafts that allowed the blocks to flow up to be positioned at higher levels. Food for thought to me when I tinker and attempt to come up with solutions for doing something myself, without the help of other muscle.

That is really ingenious! As we get older (even though there are 2 of us working at our cabin) we look for easy ways outs

I know the feeling. Whenever I have to get down on my knees I look for other things to do while I'm down there.

I spent three months in Egypt in 1999. Toured the whole country. They don't have wood. Palm trees sink. They recorded their history on papyrus and stone walls. The hieroglyphs show they moved stone blocks with animals and manpower over rolling palm logs.

They would pile up sand and dirt next to the first layer wall and move blocks in place for the second level. Repeat, repeat, repeat, and when finished, dig the sand/dirt away and you have a pyramid.

In the valley of the queens I watched a worker chipping away at a stone block with a hammer and four inch wide metal chisel. He let me do some. It was rather easy except for doing it in the blazing sun.

There are so many flaws in that video. Lets magically pump a million gallons of water miles uphill so we can float rocks with wood we don't have.

What do they call that? (A Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a chain reaction-type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way.)

Should I delete the click bait?

It was an alternate theory on how some were constructed. And, for the most part, a very interesting concept. I did not post it as click bait.

Dave, Thanx for the 'in country perspective' and reality check . Thankfully the world wont end if the link stays as an interesting concept. I suspect we have some other construction suggestions here that are, umm, less than optimum; I know Ive done a few....

I found this in the valley of the kings. Appears to be man-made.
