I've been given a tub of tofu. Actually I can't say it tastes that bad, it really has no taste. The texture is kinda weird. I looked up ways to eat tofu, none sounded appealing. But it is protein, it says. Any good tofu recipes?

Barring that, how about around the cabin? Patch sheetrock? Saw blade lubricant? Mousetraps?

Patch Sheetrock. The blowout patch. How the Pro does it. Square up the hole with knife or drywall saw. Cut a piece of drywall two inches larger. Score the back side paper with a knife and ruler, 2 1/4 inches from edge. Bend each side to break and then peel leaving front side paper on four sides. Dry fit the patch in the hole. Remove patch. Butter the back edges of the patch with plenty of EZ Sand or other drywall compound. Press patch into hole, and draw out compound with large dry wall knife. Check flatness with level. Indented patch is okay. Let dry 24 hours. Skim coat lightly with compound on second day and third day. We don't like to sand a lot so do lightly. Finish sand and paint.

Mouse traps. Peanut butter flavored blue traps on Amazon.

Tofu takes on the flavour of what you cook it with...

Personally, I like a fried tofu with garlic and sesame oil (loads of recipes on youtube).

The person that gave you a tub of tofu deserves a gift from you. I suggest a fruitcake.

I do like a good fruitcake. The typical grocery store fruitcakes are not those.

Excellent. https://patti-cakes-gourmet-foods.myshopify.com/

I'll try this tonight, I can eat just about anything with enough garlic and oil on it.

It just a curd to me, you can cook it up and feed it to just about anyone but me.

Enjoy!

I put some in the dog's dish last night. He walked away but it's gone this morning.

He pulls that crap at the hardware store too. They give him a biscuit, he drops it on the ground. Embarrassing. I put it in my pocket, get in the truck and he got his big nose right in there, can't wait to eat it.

The great cabin forum tofu debate!

Can't compare anything to bacon, just not fair.

I went grocery shopping yesterday, refrigerator is packed. Almost threw out the tofu, actually carried it over the trash can. But I relented. Heading out to the cabin today, bringing the tofu, but it won't be making a round trip, one way or another.

Oh and should mention, with the prices I paid for food yesterday, hard to waste any. You hunters and growers ought to be feeling good.

The way I look at something I might be given is that if I don't like it I am not bothered about tossing it. Different story if I bought it myself, though I do make an exception if I get into a "let's try something new" mode.

Can't recsll the last time I ate any bacon. Don't miss it anymore.

Fried in olive oil with my favorite chili sauce. Actually had two servings. But I'm known to eat most anything, and a lot of it.

Wife and dog still turning their noses.

So sad I missed this thread, lol! I'm on team tofu If you are ever gifted another tub, the best use for a tofu noobie that can eat dairy IMHO is to hide it. If it is the firm version, press it (wrap in kitchen towel and put something heavy on it for 10 minutes or so), crumble and sub in to ricotta or cottage cheese with your favorite lasagna/stuffed shell/manicotti recipe. You can add normally 1/3 of the crumbed tofu to 2/3 of the cheese (to make the recipe's 100%) without any noticeable difference. Also if you freeze firm tofu and then thaw, the texture is way different. It will press drier and then take on marinade a little more too. If you have the silken version, then chocolate pie has always been a hit for me: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/moo-less-chocolate-pie-recipe-1938390 .

MMM, got a sore throat today, that sounds good. Might have to make some. Let's see, got soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, bell peppers.. out of tofu but that ought to kill the pain. Or create it.
