Quoting: Rob_O I hope this stuff goes away soon. C'mon....Rob_O, and all those that live in a climate that actually has seasons. Check yer own posts in, say, four months;
Sept: Geez it's hot! No rain for 27 days! I'm gonna lock myself in the freezer just to experience hell freezing over!
Jan: Gawd it's cold! Snow Snow and more SNOW! I'm gonna take a bath in creosote and roll myself in wood chips. Somebody light my fire!
And now...... May: That big yellow thing in the sky This wacky weather :-( Rain
I know I know, there's four seasons...we'd settle for two.
Please Try the Pacific North Wet...... We get; 11.9 months of fall, or what we have come to call Falsuminter.
Friends visiting for a week from out of town (during the two days of summer);
"It's so green here! How lovely....is that moss?" "No, it's my lawn"
"What a lovely patina on your deck furniture" Oh, forgot to wipe off the mold.....do you have a change of clothes?"
Two days later "S-o-o-o-o how long does it take to water your lawn?" "I'm not, summer's over."
"Well then explain those freckles." "Rust spots"
"So that explains the lines at the tanning booths..." "Sorta, we just go there to remember what bright looks like"
"So, what's that in my MaiTai, an olive?" "That's not your drink, it's our pet slug's living quarters, and, as I was about to show you, that's my tie....watch him climb up it.......Heyyyy, where'd his slime water go?" Honey, do we have any more of that triple sec lemon slime mix? ....and a bar towel for Hal's little mess he made.....and some alka seltzer....
"When can we leave?" "GreyArk arrives at noon, daily"
So, please, enjoy yer teeny tiny 'rainy' season, and when yer drying out later this spring, remember us poor sods here in drizzle-opolis
And of course we must now remember our brothers in Missouri, who are havin' real problems This too shall pass

Not sure I'd call it a "tiny rainy season"

Not a drop of rain in over 100 days here, getting a little desperate for moisture in this area.

Gary O, we're on the Texas Gulf coast, very strange weather here, usually very wet time of year.

We had tornado through week ago or so, my brother had been working hard on clearing out the mountain ridges and downed trees from the winter only to have multiple trees down from the storm. All his work undone in a matter of minutes.... Entire mountain ridge line washed down into creek below. Months of work ahead. Not sure if it's worth it.....

Quoting: mikec Gary O, we're on the Texas Gulf coast, very strange weather here, usually very wet time of year. Well, if you're near Corpus, my hat's off to ya. I love that town, but haven't been there since the '60s. (Hurricane Camille) Brownsville, not so much, good oil rig work though. Stopped in Galveston in the '90s...not much change. Heard Laredo grew up overnight due to all the maquiladora activity of the '80s and '90s....but the Rio Grande isn't the coast....
Can't imagine a dry Gulf coast for so long. That is strange for sure.

That's about 10 miles up the road, actually. Here is the story from the owner himself

Quoting: Rob_O That's about 10 miles up the road Hey, that's some story.
People do seem a tad more prepared when living in a flood zone. Lived in south Aberdeen WA a couple years. Seems that ground was actually floating in the bay. Ran a JD450 around the back of the property to move some dirt and almost lost it. Ground was folding in around me. Grabbed both sticks and backed that crawler as fast as it'd go. Gave my yard the sign of the cross, and commenced to concentrate on the house.

Quoting: mikec Gary O, we're near Blessing, Texas. Ah, kinda in the middle of a triangle. Nice Seems it'd not be so humid (maybe) since near the coast. I've been thru Matagorda (off 35) in the '60s but can't recall. Is that a tourist trap (spring break, etc)?
I know you're dried up right now, but I do miss that gulf coast weather.

Quoting: Erins#1Mom All his work undone in a matter of minutes... And that's the way it is. Rain, fire, twisters, hurricanes, earthquakes...ma nature's way of going 'presto'. Drought takes awhile longer, but it's all the same.
Hard work, hours, days, weeks, even years of toil, administered with and driven by a love of creating within creation....for naught...sometimes gone within minutes.
Quoting: Erins#1Mom Months of work ahead. Not sure if it's worth it..... Of course it is...... once you regrow a new heart, and repair your guts that have been stomped out. Unixfmike is a rare example, but a great testament to resilience. However, taking one's time to gather thoughts, and possibly re-assess a different build site, or materials, and then employ lessons learned from the last build, or site prep, can pay large dividends. Hey, that land was there before you bought it, and will be there when you're ready....but in your case...now a bit closer to the creek...
