I've been informed the Christmas party will be at my yard this year, an outdoor event due to Covid. About a dozen adults, could be twenty. Catered food truck, white elephant gift exchange and a bonfire. Afternoon start, going until after dark. Videos on the big screen.
Looking for ideas on fun things to do around the fire besides the usual drinking and arguing.

I through a 40th birthday party for my wife in September at my fire dept’s picnic area we fire pit with hay bale seating, horse shoes, and corn hole. I hired a guy to run the grills and had a band. For many it was the first social gathering they had been to since covid. Everyone had a great time and no one got sick. Not sure where you are but if you have good weather I think it’s a great idea!

Thanks IG, looks like a great party. I need to scare up some string lights, maybe a canopy in case of rain. Hay bales, horse shoes and corn hole, great ideas! This is for the fired dept. also. Temp will likely be in the 40s.

A bit of recent rain and my yard is already soft and sticky mud. Short story is if we have this wing ding here I'm going to need to put something down. I could get more road base but I thought maybe hay? Never tried that, would it work? If so, about what would it cost for 100x100 ft. area?

Paulz try wood chips. Here I can get them delivered for free. Hay didnt work for me as any mud pumps up through the stems pretty easy.

Good idea. Here we have free chips but you have to go shovel them into your truck. It's a thought...

Giant Jenga can be fun to play. Most people I know just make their own like this:

Personally, this winter I'll be making a set of giant lawn darts. I think this would definitely make for a number of entertaining games. Those of you who remember what Jarts are know what I'm talkin about

We had beer with chips served at the gathering the night and lit up a bonfire.

On my 25th birthday, my wife threw a surprise party at our farmhouse, which had a big backyard which was decorated with cute lights, music, family members, and friends, that was my first birthday celebration with my wife, me, my wife and our friends stay there for 4 days after the birthday, But my family members went back. We drank and enjoy ourselves a lot.
