If you are considering an air source heat pump for your off grid cabin one of the things to consider is that with most products you must pay for a technician to come out and fill the lines. With the Mr Cool DIY kit the pipes are pre-charged so you just hook it up yourself and you're good to go.

This site is owned by Ana White, who has a Youtube channel dedicated to DIY home and furniture construction.
https://www.youtube.com/user/knockoffwood
This is the video I watched (on building a mudroom bench) where she mentioned her new site.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD4iv9N-Y6I
Her new site lets you design cabinets or furniture like tables, benches etc with their free design software, you send them the plans, they cut the plywood and edge band it if you want, then they ship you the precise cut pieces so you can build it.

A nice Youtube channel called Crafted Workshop with a guy building a small guest house out back of his main house. He does a lot of in-depth explanation of the entire building process.

So far he's posted 5 videos on the construction but he also builds other things like guitars, sheds and furniture

How to keep your roof on (and cabin together) throughout a severe storm. Many people forget to tie the roof rafters or trusses to the walls, or the walls to the foundation. When they do, they tend to use hurricane straps.
Now screws are taking the place of awkward straps. This video from Awesome Framers explains what the screws do and how to install them.

If you're not going to hire an architect you're probably going to design and draft out your cabin plans yourself. Here's a great video on how to dimension your floor plans so that your framers will thank you.
