This is a channel out of Australia called Never Too Small that features small homes, cabins and apartments. While many of the projects are urban there are still lots of interesting methods featured on how to make the best use of a small space.

The only place in the main room to put a tv is 6" above a propane heater (and of course there has to be a 12" minimum clearance between the top of the heater and any nearby object).
The heater will only be on once in a while (like when I'm away for a couple of days - it's set on a thermostat) but I don't want the tv so close to the heater should it have to turn on.
SO! I found a pull down tv mount. The tv can be down for viewing (when the heater is off) but can be raised up to 27" when the heater is on. The mount was originally designed for tv's mounted over a fireplace mantel.

One thing that not many people consider when building their cabin walls is where to put the top plate breaks. The break location can create a point of weakness in the length of the wall and cause it to possibly bow out from the weight of the roof.
This Youtube channel has a lot of great info on building.

And several videos on top plate breaks.

So you're getting tired of all the maintenance and repair on your exterior wood trim and decide to change it to PVC (which being plastic doesn't rot) but you want to paint it a dark color. That's an issue with plastic exterior materials because the darker colors absorb more heat from the sun and can soften and warp.
However, in this video from Protrade Craft they discuss different kinds of dark paint (even black) that can be used on exterior PVC trim (about minut4e 7:55).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opmk9NoN9xE
This is the best paint they recommend.

In the same video from Protrade craft they discuss what kind of material you can safely use below grade (or in contact with the earth) that won't be damaged by water (starting at minute one).
The 3/4" thick boards can be used to enclose your pier foundation.

Where do you put the headers in an exterior wall? Most people put them at the top of the window opening and then if there is any additional space above it they use cripple studs up to the top plate.
However, to increase the lateral stability of the wall you should put the header up against the top plate and they frame in a lower top sill.
This article from the Journal of Light Construction explains the process (you can sign up for free and download the article in pdf format)
