If you want to know about why your cabin is losing heat, it's probably because of the stack effect and nobody knows that better than the people at the Cold Climate Research Center in Alaska.
Not only are you wasting money on propane (or are just tired of laying up tons of firewood every year) this video has a great explanation and demonstration of how heat and moisture escapes out of your cabin and how you can stop it and save money.
