This method was presented on the TV show Cityline out of Toronto.
It's simply a series of wooden 2x4's screwed into the walls with a wider 1x6 screwed on top of them. The bottom of the 1x6 hangs down below the 2x4. The 2x4's are spaced far enough apart so that the bottom of the recycling box rests on top of the hanger below it.

I would call him a spammer, but I know he is a genuine cabineer in constant search for helpful items and shares with his fellow cabineers. Most links I do click on to see.

Dave, if you don't want to see the info then don't look. I post because I find the products or methods interesting and I hope that others may as well.
Lisa, I did not "not like" Julie 2 Oregon. I genuinely hoped that her moving to Oregon to begin a new phase in her life would work out. What I criticized was her complete refusal to allow or accept any objective criticism of her plans or to recognize that some of her plans had limitations.
I also, being truthful, didn't like how she repeatedly asked people for information and advice (supposedly in order to help her make a decision on what kind of cabin to build, what kind of wood stove to buy, etc) when in fact she'd already made her decision and was simply looking for people to tell her "that's wonderful"!
People on this site spent a lot of time looking up info to try and help her out but in the end she wouldn't accept anything that didn't "support" the path she'd already chosen. Unfortunately her new adventure in Oregon was a failure and I was genuinely sad to hear that she had to abandon her land and cabin.
If this site was filled with nothing more than threads titled "here's a pic of my cabin" and replies of "how wonderful" I don't think there'd be much interest in it continuing. Fortunately, however, this site offers so much more.
You may be just starting out or maybe you've lived in your completed cabin for decades but I feel that when more information and options are made available it allows people to make better choices. You might even discover something that you never knew existed to help make your own life better.

Thank you rockies, if I had to separate recycling (our city uses a single huge bin per house, everything goes) I would consider an option like that. At our cabin we always take our recycle back home since it is easier to recycle here for us. I appreciate you sharing useful and often low-cost diy solutions/ideas you run across.
