I don't know about you but exterior lighting in an off grid cabin can be tricky. You want a light over the exterior door but how about around the deck? Down the deck stairs? What do you do, install posts and then a light, or put those little LED puck lights into the boards?
I saw this on a Canadian design show. The LED light is built right into the railing.

You could also use it for lighting an interior staircase at night.
