I have a small 15" deep by 30" wide dead spot in one corner of the kitchen (on top of the counter). I was just going to leave it as open counter but then I hit on the idea of building an appliance garage.
In looking at the door options I decided on a door that flips up and then slides into the top of the appliance garage (thus being out of the way when open).
This is the hardware needed to build one (apparently it's called a "flipper door")
