Well! I didn't know this could be done by the average layman but if you can find a CNC router (the articles explains how) you can build or order all kinds of cool furniture to assemble yourself.

The future of woodworking, I mean wood assembly.
Not much of an art there.
But, the shop I work at does have a very nice
12' x 16' industrial CNC that takes the drudgery out of
fabricating repetitious parts.

Unfortunately, the future of wood working doesn't include many wood workers. By the time someone sets up a shop with quality tools and buys quality wood they've already spent 1000's of dollars. Then try finding the time to build something.

Unless you're retired or wood working for a living not many people have the money or skills necessary to turn out a nice piece of furniture.
