For most of us, this is that time of the year we are busy just keeping the grass and brush under control. While the tractor/brush hog takes care of the larger areas, all those other spots need smaller equipment.
First I tried a Billy Goat, but found it to be rather slow and completely exhausting.
Then I moved to a "commercial" string trimmer. That was 4 years ago, and I've since just about worn one out. I also use it to maintain business well and tank battery sites in the field, no longer need to worry about hitting rocks, etc.
While there are many different brands available, some tend to be very pricey. Currently, just $239 delivered will get the SWFT15022, hard to beat if you are interested.

Southland is decent quality, made in China, parts are made out of unobtanium. I have a southland power auger for fencing, works really good. Just very careful not to break anything.

Why not just get a big Stihl trimmer with the shoulder strap and just walk and trim. I have found that is the fastest way and it prevents from having to push something around.

I bought a walk behind trimmer...like the south land....from Sears. The thing is a beast and I like the way the strings are so easy to replace....though I don’t need to do it often.

I got a Cub Cadet from Tractor Supply, on sale was $279.00, works great.

I've also got the Craftsman version. It's about 15 years old. It works great as long as there's no big stuff. I am also blessed to have a DR all terrain field and brush mower. Knock things down the first time with that and then this one is great at dealing with regrowth and new growth. Much lighter, more maneuverable, and quicker. And I can pick it up and put it in my trunk. For some things these are definitely worth having.
