This might be a good solution for protecting equipment or building materials during your construction phase.

I bought the one rockies posted the link to. I think there were more than 200 bolts. Anyway, it didn't survive the winter. I thought the peaked roof would shed snow. Nope. Next spring found a jumbled mass of plastic and bent tubing.

Ditto with the short lifespan. Mine lasted a few years. Then it was tarps tarps and more tarps.

Now if I could find one with better material. Those cheapies just don't last.

Too bad the winds off of lake ontario would kill this in 10 mins.

I've had good luck with my shelter logic 10 x12. 6 years old now and the only hole is in the roof where a tree branch fell and poked thru. But I don't have big snow loads and its not got full time sun exposure. The zippers still work too.

I get your struggle with the ShelterLogic Garage in a Box. It can be a real pain, especially when you're dealing with snow loads.

I think Ive had my TSC shelter for 6years? I wanted a quonset one but couldn't find one at an acceptable to me price. They are reported to shed snow far better than the more typical gable roof models.
The common failing I see on them is wear/poke through at the frame to fabric stress points, so I made some extra 'rafters' from plastic conduit and zip tied to the frame. Then I used pieces of hd cardboard slid into the corners to spread the stress.
I also put a new hd plastic tarp over the top to take the weathering, especially sun damage.
All this has worked Very well on my cheap-end shelter!
The corners all still look good but the plastic door zippers gave out and the door itself is ragged.
If nothing else I highly recommend using the cardboard, it really spreads the load.

The round top sheds snow much better than the peaked style... but either way, the fabric will barely last a couple of years. When my last one failed, I put metal roofing over the fabric, just screwed it through the fabric and into the frame.

I have 2 of the domed ones that I put up last year. They are just 1 year old and the fabric already started to disintegrate. If you rub it between your fingers small amounts of plastic come off and the gray turns white. At the absolute most, it may last 3 years.

On another note, a bear was very curious and tore the hell out of one of them.

I had a garage in a box once. Lasted about 2yrs. Came home one day and there was a rip 20' long at the peak.

I lived at that location and would clean the snow off every 4in or so. You also had to clear the sides. Il never buy one of those things again. Total pain in the winter and a green house in the summer.

Not a garage but the my canopy top is in great shape, except where a branch went through it last winter. Luckily missed my fire truck parked underneath. Might get a shot of duct tape next winter, $150 for a new top looks like. Or maybe just a tarp.

If you search "awning repair tape" on Amazon you will find a tape much more suited to repairing shelters. It has adhesive meant to stand up in the outdoors, plus its reinforced with fiberglass. Best of all, its only about $9 for a roll. (my solution after Yogi had his way with mine)

After a better look at my old canopy top, the vinyl was hard and crisply all over. HF had this heavy duty (12 mill) tarp on sale, 20 bucks off, so I grabbed one.

Question is, silver side top or bottom? Silver on outside reflects the heat, silver inside keeps inside warm. Probably minuscule difference making me no difference, just which way will make it last longer.

Imo you want to reject as much sunlight as you can to slow the deterioration.
That is what Ive done and it has worked well for years.

They've got a 10 x 20 open sided tarport at Walmart online for less than 90 bucks with free shipping.
I might get one, then put 10 foot sheet metal panels on top.

I did that with an old cast off frame that I had.

The frame on my cheapie fabric one is pretty substantial. Ive had in mind to put tin on too when the fabric fails. But for our snow loads Id like more 'rafters'. Pretty sure there are some frames around our countryside with failed fabric, I should find one that matches mine and do some frame improvement.

Thanks Darz but I just ended up using the HF tarp pictured above. Funny thing was it fit perfectly, side and end rails, just zip tied it on! Friend talked me into black side out, doesn’t matter much, limited sun.

That metal panel top looks great. I have some new Fiberglas panels laying around. Tempting, but this was so easy..
