all good stuff rockies ... to add I have never seen a jet that would start with less than a 3000watt inverter ,most piston pumps will run with a 1 / 6 hp moter and a 1000 watt inverter or a small DC moter. .

Yes good info. I still don't have a well pump, sounds like the deep well submersible is the one for me. They recommend the Grundfos SQ Flex, is this an unbiased recommendation?

I think so. from the looks of the site the people are actually testing out the different kinds of pumps available and listing their pros and cons. I like sites that don't just tell you about one type or brand of product but explain why they picked it. Most people don't think of the amount of energy their pumps use. if you're on the grid it's nothing, but having to pay for all the solar equipment to operate them can really jack up the final bill.
I do like the fact that the Grundfos pump doesn't have a large surge on startup. That should help with downsizing the solar power system.
