I am planning on buying an Atwood propane stove. In trying to find info on how much propane the stove would use I stumbled across this comment from "Richard Mahon" in the comments section on Amazon about the high level of pressure coming out of the propane tank. I had never heard of this problem before but followed his advice and went to the "Tejas Smokers" website. I think the item he's talking about is a "High Pressure Propane Regulator".

Has anyone else had problems with the pressure coming out of a propane tank or used a regulator like this?

You need a regulator. I installed a RV stove/oven in my cabin and installed a regulator. I think its 11" WC (water column), its an industry standard amount. I think everything is regulated, not run off tank pressure.

The ones from Home Depot will work in the BBQ section, but those are not rated for cabins etc (outdoor) and anything mobile such as a trailer has its own rating.

In general there are two types of propane appliances. Low and high pressure. Think Coleman lanterns and camp stoves for high pressure examples and your home or RV range for low pressure. Low pressure is 11" (inches not psi) of WC (water column) which is less than 0.50 PSI. High pressure is much higher and can vary between mfg. The two can not be mixed in the same system.

Does that help?
