According to the website $8-10 grand is the approximate cost of building the solar water pumping system using typical equipment. They write:
"A solar pump system that provides pressure for indoor plumbing requires 1 solar pump, 1 booster pump, solar panels, panel mounting rack , charge controller, batteries, battery enclosure, plumbing, wiring, other controls, hardware, accessories and pressure tank. Cost: $8,000 to $10,000 plus installation".
The "Water Buck" is an alternative to this type of system. Obviously if you can put together a solar water pumping system for less than $8 grand you might be happy building one. However, if you'd rather have a hand powered water well pump (or one for back-up) then the "Water Buck" may be a better option for you since it is easier to use and provides more gallons per minute than old fashioned hand pumps.
