I applaud people who have managed to do this year round. I can manage for late spring to mid fall but I am afraid I am a winter wimp. If push comes to shove, then I think I could manage the winter and I could survive, but right now, no. We just paid off our mortgage and we are renting the land from the Province (property taxes).

I have been living this way for 5 years now and have become comfortable and well set in my ways.I'm loving it. The many benefits far out weigh the few inconvenience.So many of my skeptic friends are now saying this living off grid idea of yours is pretty cool.You have nothing to loose except for those massive mortgage payment's or killer rent payments and utility bills.
