This series shows how people lived just over 100 years ago. Lots of ideas for living without electricity and modern gadgets.
One trick was preserving eggs in "lime water".

I'll look at the link later, but I recall reading this, and was surprised at the results. An epic egg storage experiment/article.

That Mother Earth News egg article is excellent Malamute!! I had heard that it is best not to wash fresh eggs and they will keep longer and the article seems to agree with that.

Pretty cool, isnt it?
It really surprised me how well eggs kept with the various methods,...like at room temp.
Not washing the natural "bloom" off them does seem to be a key point for all methods.

There are a few series' like Edwardian Farm, which have excellent value, not only for entertainment.
Victorian Farm, Monastery Farm, Wartime Farm, Colonial House, 1940's House, Coal House.
These can be found online from streaming sites but I don't know if Netflix has them (I don't Netflix).
