Well I made one of these fly catchers and went to the shack this morning. I put it on the table and there was maybe 3 or 4 flies in the shack this morning. I went down fishing for a few hours and when I got back up there was one in the bottle. I was surprised!!!!!!!! I put up one shelve and went to check the bottle and the darn fly was gone!! LOL I know it works so I left it on the table and may go back tomorrow and do some fishing and will check it again. In the fall of the year is when I really get the flies.

Maybe try putting more liquid in. I've used them before and they are petty decent. Maybe try some fly tape to?

If you go to TSC. Anything that sells supplies for horses have products for flies. I would use the bottle method (I think it's a great idea) and maybe some of the liquid they sell. It really attracks the flies (a bit smelly though). I used it one time at the house just to see if it worked and could not believe the amount of flies it caught.
Here is a link to TSC and their fly traps for about $5 U.S.

At one primitive camp I spent some time at a friend's camp. He made a trap similar to that to catch wasps that were buzzing the beverages. We spent a couple six packs watching the wasps go in and not be able to get back out. You know you're feeling good or bored when you start singling out an insect's efforts to get out and provide comments about its abilities. All in all a pleasant way to spend a hot afternoon enjoying a few brews.
