I bought one of these because it's rechargeable, portable, and even if it didn't work zapping bugs. It has a 3 power light that I could use anywhere. Well it does work zapping, even those little fruit gnats. It's raining here and I put one under the gazebo. It probably zapped over 30 times in just a few minutes. It's only $10 bucks. I ended up buying 2 more a couple days ago. And will probably get a few more if the price stays the same.

One of the benefits of the dry west is we have no problem with any flying insects.

We had a horrible deer fly problem last summer... few to no mosquitoes but the deer flies would drive you inside! Not normally.

Cheep enough to give a go; and 3 sounds like a good number. Any idea how well it works on bigger flies?

The cage has about 1/4 inch gaps. I watched a moth get in, and house flies no problem.

I tried a solar one of those blue light bug zappers and found it dosnt work. Really the only thing keeping us alive at our cabin a few times a year is a thermAcell. Keeps everything away.

I bought one last year hoping it would get rid of the few mosquitoes that find their way into the cabin. I killed one fly with it, but not one mosquito.

We are on the right, or wrong side of the mountain and are more dry than wet most of the time. I think that helps to keep the flying insect population down.

Quoting: spencerin How long does it hold a charge? I ran a couple of them for about 6 hours with just the zapper mainly. But the last pic I took was with the light on high. And it was still zapping. Really haven't had them long enough to say for sure.
