Seems like not a day goes by that I'm not untangling a 50 or 100' cord or hose. So I looked up the best way. According to Roadies worldwide, the 'over under method' is the way to go. Can't wait to try it but away from the cabin for a few days.

Surprised I never learned this in my days as a Roadie for the Rolling Stones.

Best thing. When done correctly you can toss the cable and it unwinds itself along the run you are working on.

I use a figure 8 type of method. Useing this way you dont get any possible twists in the cord. It's a climbing rope style of cord management. I have 50ft cords yellow with a black stripe that are 10yrs old and dosnt have more that 2 twists in it.

I cringe when I see someone wrapping a cord over there arm.

Love it

When I see a kid start coiling a cord over his shoulder, I usually take it outa his hands, and show him the right way

Especially if it's MY cord

Im gonna havta give this a go!
On cords and ropes with lots of twists I take it /for a walk'; ie, grab an end and go for a walk letting the cord untwist itself behind me. It gets rid of a lot of the accumulated hassle and coils up better. When the coil reaches a bad loop I often can lay the coil the other way and have it take. I learned long ago not to try to force a wind.

I was taught this at my work with the added chant of "over-worked & under-paid" as you wound the cable.
