Started building a log cabin offsite in April. Finished log work. Numbered each log, brought to my lot and have it waterproofed on the roof. Just cut the key ways for windows and ready to start building two 6x24 covered porches. 8FD8AC53D9AF4BA79.jpeg

What a cool build. What is the spacing on your roof rafters?

24†2x10 sawed all my own lumber. Logs are white cedar I cut off my own land. I have all the flooring made, and all the tounge and groove for the ceiling made. It’s all black ash. Dovetail joints in the corners.

Looks great! What are you going to use to think the logs? Key ways around the windows and doors will help stabilize those log ends... way to go!

I'm using Permachink with grip strip backer rod. I have the key way in. And, the window and door bucks are installed.

Is that a scratch build or are the main logs a restoration/rebuild ?
Jealous regardless

It’s a scratch build. White cedar from my own property. But, I was inspired by the show barn wood builders. Except I can’t leave after the log work is done like they do. I actually have to finish it.

Nice porch! I like the generous over hangs. That will pay off huge in maintenance.
