It's a milled log cabin. 8" round logs 17 high at the eave and a 6/12 pitch roof. 1x6 t&g 2x10 rafters on 16". Next up is the insulation, sheeting, tar paper and sheet metal roofing.
I purchased the land(14+ acres) last spring and worked on clearing and prepping the build pad.
We started the foundation as soon as the three feet of snow melted this spring.
There are three triple lam 2x12 beams with 2x10 floor joists.
Once the roof is done I need to start getting ready to stain.

Just finished pulling up all the rough cut 2x10 rafters( HEAVY) and got the sheeting and felt on. Now to get the sheet metal roof on.

Looking for some thoughts on chinking/caulk.
I will be staining the logs with Ready Seal(oil based) and although it is a milled log cabin there are some gaps in the seams between logs.
What caulk or chink would you recommend?

I can't speak for the product, but a came across this company (Sansin) near where I live (Southern Ontario) that sells a chinking product. I've been looking at their exterior finishes if I decide to build a bunkie.

In the 80’s we used a product called permachink ,haven’t built a log cabin that needed chinking in many years so not sure if they are still around or if they are as good as they once were .

From what I think I understand because I am using an oil based stain I need to use a oil base(polyurethane) caulk. I think all permachink is water based as is Sansin. Could be wrong though.

Super job! Keep the pics coming. I would love to see some more of the interior. I am going to build a similar cabin 24x32 next summer but am using milled cabin grade D-logs from a local log home manufacturer. Bought and cleared the lot this summer and am putting in a slab foundation hopefully in the next few weeks. Trying to find straight trees on my lot (I have 60-80' spruce trees everywhere) with no taper for purlins and loft floor joists has been a challenge.
