I am in the planning stages of my project but reading this site makes me want to dig in now! I, along with friends, have a good chunk of property that borders a decent sized river that I will be building my cabin on.

There are nine cabins on the property now, and we are all equal partners in the property. The rest of the cabins on the property were remodeled and brought up to livable about 25 years ago, my cabin however was left original. The way the deed is written we are not permitted to build any new structures only remodel what is existing. So I will be "remodeling" my cabin over the next (X) number of years, and it will be a pretty large in comparison to the majority I have seen.

The plan right now is a 2bd/ 2ba ~1200 ft^2, with a large living room and kitchen. For us we like to go up with groups of friends and we spend a good amount of time up there year round as it is only 275mi from our house. The nice thing about this location is we have a water system drawing water from a creek, electrical service, multiple septic systems on the property, as well as a large propane tank to service all cabins. Another bonus is that we have a guest cabin on the property for anyone that brings up company that doesn't fit, so I always have a place to stay until my place is done. I will be doing 100% of the work with my father, everything from pouring the stem walls to laying tile in the bathrooms.

Here are a few shots of where I will begin construction, I mean begin my remodel...I don't have a target start date it will pretty much be as I get extra money and I am hoping to stay around the 40-50k mark on cost.

Kind of behind and to the right of my burn pile...once I clear the brush the deck will look out onto the river...

Looking at the back of the plot from the creek...

Here are a couple of my buddies cabin, last year we finally finished adding that room to the back side as well as a new deck all the way around. The part that pops out with all of the windows is the addition, I think it ended up adding a little over a hundred ft^2 to the living room. These are the only two good shots I have on my phone, but they give you an idea of the style.

Ha, yeah that tree is as big as it looks. That is one of the smaller ones on the property too, you should see the big ones.

Here are a few pictures of a project I have been working on, my friends and I love to play horseshoes so naturally we have a pit up at the cabins. The pit was built probably 25+ years ago and has gotten a little run down so each year I try to fix up part of it. Last year I decided we needed a hecklers, I mean spectators bench, so I made one with some scrap flat iron, scrap pipe, and a little redwood. The second picture is me and a friend taking it for a test drive.

This summer's project will be running the conduit for lights over each pit and new back stops; I will be cutting, welding and painting the steel for the back stops this weekend. If anyone knows some one selling some Gooseneck Sign Lights for a reasonable price send them my way. My dad picked some up for his pits for $20 at a yard sale, I have only been able to find new ones to the tune of $160/ea.
