I have no idea. Sometimes, if I upload images taken with my phone or tablet, they may end up 90° or 180° off. If from either of my cameras, they always upload in the correct orientation.

I think if the picture is upside down, your viewer may just orient it fine to view from your PC, but its still upside down. I open them up in paint, then rotate them, then save it. Then it always comes up right.
