Not much in the way of construction going on now that winter has set in. Cabin is warm and cozy, it was -28c with the windchill this weekend and all hands were dying with the hear inside....Ha. Spent the last few weekends acutting some fire wood and doing some riding around on the skidoos. Here are a few pics .

Great project and enjoy watching your progress! How are the bridges doing? I cannot help but think of spring ice when I see those bridges. Good luck and keep posting pics!

Screen porch built on and boarded up inside. Used cheap spruce 1x6 spruce as opposed to pine which is 3x the price. Started siding . Going to use cedar shakes on the front.

Didn't get much work don't the summer between vacation and heat and flies. Fall is here...time to crack the whip.

Hi. Just noticed this post . Bridges held up well . Last year we had 180mm after hurricane Matthew. The river exploded....bit everything held up fine. Thank god. Boys are still hauling moose....loads of gravel...bricks across it with 6x6 Polaris Rangers....lol....so all is good. !

Siding finished. Started putting white cedar shakes on the front and screen porch. Bought some rough lumber for trim board. Stained it white. Have never installed cedar shakes before but so far so good. Found some great bob Villa videos on YouTube. Slow and tedious but I made good progress for one day !

Somm more work on the cedar shakes. Inside my screen porch done...just have to trim out door and finish a few odd and ends. Also got a small church pew . Blessed now for sure . Painted inside floor -which I should have done last year. Comming along lots of progress. Burned a ton of brush as well.

Made a set of doors for the his/hers outhouse. Have just about all the cedar done now except small top strip above the porch. I spent all last winter digging wood from 6ft of.snow so I rigged up a small wood shed out of pallets and left over materials ...serves the purpose and made the cheapskate a in n me very happy. come on with the snow !

I'm planning a 20x24 and would like to know if the position of these rafter ties is safe.

Quoting: Jebediah
was married to a sweet lady from NFLD(Gosse). While we were married and living in Ontario we would visit her parents at least 4 times a year and stay at her parents cabin on Codroy Pond. That was over 30 yrs ago. ....

I own 4 acres just a few kms from Conroy pond, it certainly is a nice area.

Great Outhouse ! So... How did Missus appreciate the "Cow" on her door ?? Be HONEST Now ! LMAO !

If it were me, I would of put up deer Stag & Doe instead... hehehe

Thank goodness you didn't use Boar & Sow ... Ohh my...

PS: Tell your friends daughter that she has talent ! There is a potential market there for her talent eh, I could see people wanting hand painted signs such as that, could do a series on different critters too. Just a thought that could make her some good coin.

Firsr tirp of the winter. Went in on snowmobile for a full week. It was so good to be able to stick around for a few days. Got 4-5 sled loads of wood and cooked up lots of good food. U got 2 new draw knifes for xmas gifts....going to start making some log ladders and interior accent pieces for inside.

Nice to see someone else using snowmachines to get out and get around at their cabin. It's how we get to ours in the winter.

Hi Russ. For sure...we will do some ice fishing in the pond ...and maybe bring a guitar and banjo !!! It's about 200 meters down the Brook. Nice little pan size trout ...no trophy's but lots of small ones. Thanks ks for the comments.

Attached are a few more snowmobile pics and one of my buddies log camp they just built. Boys cut all the logs in Jan, skinned them at the wrong time of year so 5x the work and built the camp over the winter. The location is basically impossible to access in summer. It about 4klm from me.
