Went to cabin on tuesday , what a day i had. My plans was to put up treated plywood sheating around bottom of cabin. But there was tree limbs everywhere from storm that came through, Blowed the tops out of pine trees beside cabin thank goodness they went into field and not on top of cabin. So we started cleaning up tree limbs and I lost my glasses. After chain sawing and piling up limbs in upper 90 degree temps had to take a break before starting on sheating, We got half sheating up and another storm was coming so we put everything away to go home. On the way out to main road I got a flat tire and had to change it in middle of a thunderstorm. I sure hope that is all my bad luck for a while LOL.

Who would think a ladybug could be so annoying... They can get into every nook and cranny its so hard to keep them out of the cabin.. and I thought I had everything sealed solid. I hate to see the cold come but at least it will get rid of them. Do you get a lot of them in wisconsin trollbridge?

Yes! They arrive literally by the swarm full on sunny warm days in late September. I've heard that when the farmers harvest the soybeans it kicks them up and you are absolutely right-they get into every nook and cranny! They are not as far north as our cabin luckily-at least not yet, but definitely here at home. I guess they were introduced in the south to take care of some other pest in the fields. They pinch too! And then when you swat them they stink so it takes self control...ya have to learn the fine art of "flicking"! LOL! And just to clarify, these are not the cute little pink or red ladybugs that we all like to have around. They are orange and have a thicker shell. I asked my daughter the other day if she has noticed that some are turning more of a reddish orange-I think they are mating with the regular old "American" ladybugs! She laughed and said I must have too much time on my hands! lol...maybe that's true, but I have made that observation ,so time will tell!!!!

I have heard that they were introduced in the 80s to help kill a mite that was killing honeybee colonies I dont know how true it is I think I will take my shop vac and try to vacuum all of them up on my next trip. I have not payed much attention to the shade of orange but i will give them a better look next time I think # of spots on them have something to do with what type of ladybug they are also.
