Good to see you are well Gary. You are staying busy with things you like.
Ive also taken a somewhat more civilized track recently caring for an aging parent. I still get to spend some time at my cabin, but am now seriously considering totally avoiding winter and snow in the future, even if it means doing it in a camper in Az for the cold period.
Town life has been interesting, and nice having things close by instead of a 35 miles one way drive for anything.

Cabin life...I think...can always be a state of mind even when we can no longer enjoy cabin life like we may have in the past. Life does throw curve balls, circumstances / priorities change, you or your partner's health may change, aging parents, kid's health issues...enjoy the ride for what works for you and those you care about...it's always been about the journey...it's all good.

There are times I miss cabin living.
When there, I put together some words.
They don't help in my homesickness, as they still ring true for me.
I do have my memories, however;
Someone here, in another life, posed the question; ‘What is your definition of a cabin?’
My reply;
For me?
t's more than even Kinkaid could replicate.
It's warmer than the warmest of wood stoves.
It has more charisma than the grandest of orators,
more appeal than the most opulent edifice built.
Yet it's simpler than the simplest of abodes.
...all the while doing its modest magic
Turning a mason jar to a drinking glass,
a tuna can to an ash tray,
a wooden apple box to a cabinet,
a burlap bag to a slip cover,
favorite old clothes to attire of choice,
a stranger to an acquaintance,
an acquaintance to a friend,
a wife to a mistress,
a life....to living.
And for me,
it's now home.

I haven’t made any lately but I will next time I cut a suitable tree ,, I like to make 24 x48 x3 in.live edge coffee tables . Good to hear from you .

Great looking stuff Gary.
Do you have to plane or use a router sled to get the pieces the same thickness? Or do you get the pieces the same thickness?
I have a couple piles of live edge stuff that I am waiting for the wood to dry, warp, and or crack enough to let me know what I can build with it. Sometimes the wood is the boss, LOL.

Yeah, they have minds of their own.
There's a guy up the path with a saw mill.
He turns ponderosa pine logs into beams for lodges and cabins.
Gives me the outer slabs.
Dims are however they come out. Mostly one to one and a half inch thick and six to 12 inches wide. I cut them down to 12 feet so I can haul them.
One lady outfitted most her house with my stuff.
The trick is joinery......getting the corners to match.

Hey Gary O and cabingal. It has been a looonnnnggg time since I checked in.  I'm so sorry to read about your son's passing. I hope you and cabingal are okay. 
We are still living the dream in our small place. We closed down our little motel when COVID hit and decided it was time to retire.
Our dog passed away last January and now we have a yellow lab puppy. She's a wild one and I feel like this last year has been all about her. Her name is Luna but we call her the Luna-tic.
Hubby and I have taken up the hobby of making cheese. We use one of the kitchens in our closed motel as a cheese kitchen. It is really fun to try out different cheeses.
I love the life edge pieces you have been making. Is cabingal still knitting up a storm?
