Heh, woke up at 4:17

Blinked

Rubbed my eyes

Stared at the clock

Rolled over

Giggled myself back to sleep

Truth is we've got a ton of stuff to do, mainly fill all the nooks and crannies in the container, then buzz down to the cabin and prep the drop site.
Turns out tilt beds can't handle full containers, it takes a freaking semi and loads on the side.

So, gotta get out the chain saw and make sure the drive has clearance.

Texting from the road! We are headed to the cabin!
This in a test to see where and how long we can text thru the mountains.
We have a lot of electronics to hook up in The woods and be off grid in one way!

OK Gary, you have been idle for almost a week now... Get that Tool Belt on and start swingin the hammer... What do ya think this is ? A freakin Holiday ? It's RETIREMENT, meaning now the Real Work begins ! LMAO

Pergola to build, Garden to plant, Screen Room to finish, patch other screens, chase the chipmunks out of the sheds and see if you can fire up that lawnmower you left that bad gas in over winter... hehehehehe And don't forget the tiller, quick tune to prep the garden... HAHAHAHAHAHA

and you thought retirement was about sitting on your duff... Guess what, working life was only the "prep work & training" for retirement.

Cold this a.m.!
Woke up and checked the WiFi and it was down! Ran to the outhouse.
Saw a beautiful moon.
Ran and made coffee. Took some to the mister. He is still storing away in a peaceful slumber.
We had a great day yesterday. Met a new guy a couple of lots down.really nice fella.
Then we went to visit our old buddy Mel as his wife is out of town till the end of may. Everyone had grand stories to tell..
Then we went to town cause it seems we forgot our p.o. box number!
Ate lunch by the river.got home and one
Of our neighbors left a pretty at my tree gate!
We napped and cleared land for the shipping container to be.
I cleaned my kitchen.
We built a fire and sat around it drinking coffee.
What a grand day!

and see if you can fire up that lawnmower you left that bad gas in over winter...

Heh, sold the mower (no more lawn)

It's early Monday morn...waitin' for the chickens to wake up along with the sound of cars starting up to carry young unfortunates off to yet another day of drudgery....heh heh.
I'll miss saluting them with a raised cup of coffee, once we move to the cabin.

But, true, Steve, the real work begins...

I mean the R-E-A-L work.
Like clearing out a spot for the container to plop.
The container that's full of most all our earthly belongings.

We just got back from our cabin home.
Tasted a bit of what life will be like this summer.
It got down to the low 20s.
For me, the only reason to get outta bed in the low 20s is to pee.
I've got 2 ½ acres to pee in.
Y'ever look up at the stars while peein'?

Yeah, we got a taste of the primitive lifestyle we'll start out with.

But

Everything we do, from here on out, will be steady improvement.
Direct hands on improvement.

Oh, sure, putting yer grubby clothes in the washer and poking a button has it's attraction, and we'll get there with that, but scrubbing out poopstains by hand tends to give one a bit of appreciation of one of the more basic things of life.

And as I watch her do this, I think 'why do we need a washer?'

Word of advice on the Sea Can.... Make sure the spot you are plopping it, is where it's gonna stay. I have to nudge mine over a few feet to optimize it's angle (mounting solar system on it) and this is no small task as I haven't got a tractor or big machinery to move it... I really wonder if my little Mazda B4000 will be able to nudge it over.... I'm AFEARED ! OHHHH and make sure it's High & Dry with good drainage under & around it.

And you sir are a big footed doodoo head for suggesting such a thing.
Lovable, but a doodoo head just the same.

Next thing ya know, I'll be the one rubbing my knuckles on those stains.

Yeah, I've got the timbers ready.
My angst is in getting the trucker to set it in the right place.
It's a side loading semi.
Wherever he can may end up being 'the right place'.
(12' tween trees in places)
All in all, I don't see that thing remaining with us for more than a year (yeah, right)

OK, I no nothing about wells.

We inherited a well when we bought the adjacent lot.

I did manage to successfully install a hand pump.
Need to go to something less primitive, like an elect shallow well type to run off the genny when we need water.

I plan on some sort of reservoir/tank thing for a gravity fed shower, and...in general.....water.

Here's my question;
Anybody out there with experience in the hooking up of shallow well pumps genre?

A 1\2 HP pump is all you need . make sure your genny is big enough ,pumps take a lot of power .

Not sure about how much juice this one needs.
Can't see the amps or watts in the on line add.
Guess I gotta travel to HFT....
This one's a one horse, and may need it for a bit to water cabi's plantings in the meadow 100 yds or so away.
Not sure how juice much a one horse motor normally takes.
I'd like to use the 2000 watt genny, since the 3500 watt is a chore to lug around.

Should be someone here that can tell you that , i'd guess 1800 watts but i'm not sure . maybe more to start than to run .how far is the cabin from the well ?? it' better if the pump is close to the well , but i have one that works well and is 300 ft. away
.[[ it's a 1 hp.]]

it's approx. 150' from well to cabin.

If it's 1800 watts, it may tax my smaller genny on start up.
I may need to buy another one...was goin' to anyway.
My 12" compound miter saw will need a bunch more on start up.
