Me and my wife just purchased 10 acres by the Lake Of the Ozarks in Mo. and just had a road cut into the property, sorry trees. I have been busy drawing up cabin plans so we can start building this fall(cooler) it will be a 16x16 gambrel with a loft ,thanks for all the info from this site as they have been useful. 2010_1220propertyroa.jpg

Has anyone else built a 16x16 cabin and felt that it was big enough? It will only be my wife and daughter and our dogs. Ive just finished the outdoor shower platform made from cedar and now I need to find a good way to make the outhouse.

I have a 16x16+loft. I can honestly say the bathroom is larger than what I need, probably double the size that is actually needed. The stairs to the loft also eat up some room. I have comfortably fit myself, my wife, my two kids, and two guests in our cabin with no problems. The loft is what makes the difference for us, it fits two twin beds up there.
The hard part is being short seating for right now. Folding chairs are uncomfortably standing in until I get another couch built.

Hi Beagle
Good luck with your building.
Aren't bull dozers fun? We enjoyed our few hours of destruction with one.
Really looking forward to seeing your progress reports.

Just cleared an area were the cabin will be. Was happy to find the road still intact after all the rain. 20100730_37.JPG

beagle..I'm somewhere near you and am willing to exchange some labor in exchange for the learning process I need to build my cabin...cheaper to learn from your mistakes than making my own HAHA....eric....
