I have dealt with a flooded basement 3 times in 15 years.
"...but for the grace of God..."
I'm kinda glad my camp is 2 feet off the ground.

We had about the same thing early in July in NB - hurricane Arthur. Our lake went up at least three feet within 12 hours and I lost one of our boats - later found half sunk down the lake. The last time I was there in the fall, there was very little water, so if we we did get a lot of rain, it probably is back to normal - hoping anyway. It is always tough to get the water right before the freeze up as it sometimes causes problems with the shoreline - and whatever is near it.
