I started building this back in April of 2012. We wanted to start using it right away, so it's taken me a awhile to finish the inside. I'm still not done, but I thought I'd post a few pictures of inside and outside. 20141118_14.48.48..jpg

No good pics of the loft. It's 12x8 with enough room for two twin mattresses and a little bit of storage.

I like it! Nice work. I am still in the process of building a similar cabin in November 2010. Its been a long process for sure, so i can relate. The exact same dimensions as yours, except for i am lacking that many windows.

Lookin good to me ! Nicely tucked into the woods and looks like quite a nice peaceful place to hang your hat.

Those two projects will really make a difference on the interior. I got so excited to finally finish my walls and ceiling after like 4 years of looking at insulation and 2x6's.
Also, the well will be a nice addition. I was wondering if i could dig my own.. but I'm about 950ft above sea level on top of solid granite. I can't imagine it being a successful endeavor. Do you have a link to any info you might be looking at for yours?

Very nice cabin...I especially like the color you added to your wall and how you did it.

Nhliving, I found this to be pretty helpful... http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/DG/DG0022.pdf
I'm in the northern lower peninsula of MI about 700' from Lake MI on the back of a wooded sand dune. There are a few low areas on my property (one semi-permanent wetland, and a few ephemeral wetlands) pretty close to the cabin. I'm pretty sure I'll hit water between 20-40', i just hope I don't hit a clay lense on the way down.
Hope this helps.
Also, thanks Neb and Chuck. Matt

Matt,
I'm also in NMich. near Wilderness State Park and am currently planning a 14x14 on a 5 acre property, hopefully for this summer. Was wondering if I could pick your brain on a few things.
Did you ended up insulating the floors and what method? Was also wondering if you could also elaborate on how you did the foundation. I was told I should use pier tubes below frost because of the heave, wasn't aware of your method.
If you care to elaborate on the outhouse. Is your zoning residential? Mine is and was also advised that the county finds fault with a pit latrine these days Thanks for elaborating as much as you can and for any other info/advice you can provide. -Whitney (Whitney3797@yahoo.com)

This is without a doubt the cutest and coziest cabin I have seen for this size. It really looks great. That wall behind the couch is like artwork. And the arrangement of the kitchen and wood burning stove is perfect. I see many years of enjoyment! Good job!
