Here is our project. It's a 10 x 16 shed that was almost falling down. I framed a lot inside for new windows and loft, not to mention new footings. This last weekend my wife helped me sheath the second wall, house wrap two sides and install one of 5 windows. Typical husband/wife mishaps but we lived to tell the tale. Oh yeah, kinda bites when you go to use your brand new stapler only to find it's faulty. That meant a 3 hour trip to town and back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, that's island life for ya! Shed_Before.jpg

There are 83 or so wind turbines on our island. They can be noisy at times.

Where we camp in way upstate NY there are about 75 of those beasties. I call them the never-ending freight train because that's how they sound deep into the night while sitting around the campfire. Are you on Wolfe Island, perchance?
Apologies for the double post. Sporadic 3G service at my cabin. Growwllll

Quoting: bobrok Are you on Wolfe Island, perchance? Yes. There is a lot of activity during the day but at night it is quiet, except for the wind turbines. I kinda notice them then forget again. We are 5 years into the 20 year program. I don't expect them to be extended beyond that.

Nope, think waaay farther north. We camp in Franklin County, Town of Curubusco, very near Chateaugay, NY. That's about 7 miles from the CDN border. There's a huge windfarm all around our campsite. But the wife is from Watertown, NY so we are familiar with the 1000 Islands/Kingston area. Pretty much the same scenario as yours as far as turbines. You love em and you hate em!

Quoting: Mainiac Is it grandfathered Yes That's why we are turning "that old wreck" into our cabin. It's a "glass half full" thing. As for the spot, it's more of a personal choice but the islanders are great people and the lifestyle suits us fine.

My wife started the demolition of the Eastern Wall before I got back with the supplies. As she removed siding from the gable end she was moving up the ladder and the resident mouse was running down the same ladder. I think they both screamed!
Lots of chocolate sprinkles everywhere!
