Attached are photos of my project of the last decade. It all began with a rundown 1950's mobile home and some seriously overgrown, poison ivy infested ground.
The cabin began with a repoed 12x30 portable building and has progressed to where it is now in the pictures attached. It had been off grid and running on a generator since 2008 but this year we decided to put it back on the grid. There is no running water but I collect rainwater to run the toilet (there was already a septic tank on the property).
Sadly, I am bad about taking pictures and there are no good pictures showing the progress. Cabin Front

Here are the rest of the photos showing the bedroom, the water tank and the river.
Feel free to ask any questions! Some of my ideas came from this forum. ZngJ8Kt.jpg

Pretty good. The locals have overfished and gigged the river for years but it is getting better as time goes along.

No, they are confined mostly to the big rivers i.e. the Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, etc. This is a cool clear ozark river and has smallmouth, sunfish, catfish, and suckers.

Looks like a nice getaway.
Hopefully you are far enough away from the the river to avoid flooding.

Looks like a cozy places. And I can tell from the pictures you have kiddo's that help you enjoy the place and make memories.
Question where did you find the picnic table you have on your porch? I have been looking for one shaped like that or round, not the regular rectangle style.

I saw a similar table on a vacation years ago and always wanted one. My wife found it for me on the internet and it was a father's day gift. If I recall it wasn't cheap, somewhere between $3-400. It is really nice for playing cards and dice in the evening with the kiddos.

I'm very close to the river but much higher in elevation. The previous cabin (mobile home) was hit in the flood of 93 but nothing has been remotely close since then.
