Hi Toyota, how can you tell? You are very close! The design will look more like the Mackenzie II, but bigger and with more windows. Please see below a screen capture of the front and side. SmartSelectImage_201.png

We spend a week in the woods and got a lot done. The steel roof is on and the cabin is safe from the weather for the most part. Windows and doors didn't arrive on time so we will have to wait to install those.

The bunkie plans were from cottagelife (link below). If you are referring to the cabin plans, we designed those ourselves.

I was up at the cabin last weekend and winter has already made an apparance. Luckily I managed to have a direct vent propane heater installed along with some tanks. I also completed the roof insulation and the majority of the plastic. The next stage, before I have to return the scafolding, is to install siding on the ceiling. I planned to use 1"x6" tongue and groove pine. Have it delivered and then apply a white wash/pickeling, prior to instalation. Was wondering what experience others have has with T&G pine on the ceiling? In the bunkie we used some really cheap /narrow pine T&G on the ceiling and noticed a lot of bowing. Would appreciate hearing from others and what they have used and their experience on finishing their ceilings. Thanks! 20181112_143047.jpg

Thanks, It is crazy to think that it has been 6 years! While part of me feels like what I enjoy most is the project related work, another part of me is very happy to see this cabin become habitable!

Very nice little camp you have going on. I just read your thread. Glad you hung in there and continued the updates. It appears that you think things out. Good work. You also seem to enjoy using and always using your carpentry skills. We have been able to use our cabin for a few years now. After lots of years of saving up cash n hauling materials. But all good. As I’m sure you know. You and your family and friends will share many years making memories. I was blessed to call in a 58†bull moose with my son . And daughter and me heading out so hopefully we will be blessed with her first moose also. And mostly we will get to hang out together for a week or so. Thanks again. And maybe you could share some of the great moments you have had already.

Thanks Aklogcabin! That must have been a great feeling to have bagged a moose with your son. I wish you all the luck on your trip with the daughter. I was planning to do some hunting myself this season, but my wife is due to give birth very soon and I can't get away. My daughter loves coming up and it is a great experience to work on projects together. I'm sure my son will enjoy the place when he is old enough as well. We went up recently to close it down for the year, as we don't expect going up for a while due to the new baby and it was a great 3 days. No bugs, weather was fantastic. Nothing better than sitting on the deck in the sun with a cold drink after a day of work!

Beautiful family compound. Well done! I noticed your insulated floor method differs from the bunkie to the cottage. Can you give more detail on the process used for the bunkie with the rigid xps? Thank you and enjoy making those memories.

Thank you gwindhurst. On the bunkie we insulated between the floor joists with 2" rigid insulation and GREAT STUFF Insulating Foam in any cracks. Used a box cutter to trim foam before laying the subfloor. I'm sure it must help keep the warmth during the winter. It is such a small small place that it doesn't take long to warm up.
