Last week our cabin shed was delivered, 12x40. It is so exciting to finally be able to get started. Some 2x4's have been bought to build walls, along with a few rolls of insulation. Cabinets for my kitchen were dropped off last week by a good friend who knew a cabinet builder that had some he wanted to get rid of. You just can't beat free. Lots of work to do but little by little will get done. At least we are started. How great to have this site where we can read over others posts and learn so much when it comes to 12 volt wiring, solar setup and water catchment systems! Loving this "simple life". IMAG0634.jpg

Thanks. We bought it from a Mennonite builder in our area. The workmanship seems very good. He uses Pella windows, which I really like. We had him frame in an opening for our patio doors that my hubby installed himself since we already had them.

now i got a close of up the free kitchen cabinets.very very nice. isnt it funny how we all want cabins and have cabins and each and everyone of us has our own unique slant on a cabin. just goes to show us all that theres a whole lot of different ideas and ways to go.sure encouraging.

Thanks all, I feel kinda like a kid at Christmas, lol. The cabin will be compact, for sure but with a bedroom, bath, and livingroom, kitchen/dining it's really all we need. The cabinets are not what I would have picked out but they will work just fine and hey, free is surely appreciated. Now just have an eye out for overheads, lol.

Oh wow, I would love to have mine like NOW! Husband likes Amish builds. I just don't want a mortgage. I'm leaving that up to him though. All is being considered.
